Twin Atlantic is a Scottish band, and they are not going to try and hide it. While some bands from across the pond will do anything they can to appeal to an American audience, this Glaswegian quartet believes in staying true to their roots and producing music that honestly represents who they are. This does not mean stereotypical bagpipes and kilts are involved; there just aren't any fake American accents or re-recorded songs for the States. With the unfortunate present attitude of the music industry, it appears to be a surprise to many music-lovers that a band is willing to be genuine. With the passion and drive to play music they love, Twin Atlantic is currently bringing their loud rock 'n' roll across the country in opening for Envy on the Coast and The Fall of Troy, making a stop at the First Unitarian Church April 21. The band played a fantastic, high-energy set despite technical difficulties, and The Triangle caught up with singer Sam McTrusty and guitarist Barry McKenna.

TT: A couple of you do photography and painting. How does the other artistic aspect of your band tie in with your music?

Sam: Well, I guess it kind of ties into the art, the actual artwork. Our band initially, I guess, kind of mapped out the artwork for the majority for the stuff that we do, like record sleeves or whatever. Apart from that, it's just especially for me, anyway, being really creative always helps. Like I always want to write music or at least play and rehearse and constantly do something that's not boring. I think as long as we're doing something like that I'm not bored ... Ross and Craig are our rhythm section [who] are the photographers. And, eh, I don't know, we all prefer music and that's why we prefer all do this, I guess, but it's still kind of like a passion for us all if you know what I mean.

TT: I've noticed from reading other interviews that you're a band that really crafts every aspect of your live shows and your albums. Is there any particular experience that made you really want to make your live performances better?
