"Table Matters," a Drexel-sponsored online food publication, re-launched their Web site last week with even more exciting news relating to food in hopes to stimulate palates and increase readership.

One and a half years ago, the Pennoni Honors College started the Table Matters project led by The Smart Set editors Jesse Smith and Jason Wilson to create a food and beverage forum. Table Matters features articles from staff members, Drexel faculty and students, industry professionals, and contributing authors from as far away as Seattle.

Just recently, Table Matters was taken over by the Goodwin School of Professional Studies. Now in new hands, Edward Bottone, the faculty supervising advisor, has revamped the Web site with Drexel student Emily Callaghan acting as managing editor.

While some may compare this publication to food Web sites such as "Chowhound" or "Foodbooz," Table Matters offers something extra. According to Bottone, "We take a different, slightly deeper but humorless interest in the subject matter of food. The articles come from unique, idiosyncratic points of views. Table Matters is user-friendly and entertaining."

Bottone also mentions, "One of Drexel's journalism students, Marisa McStravick, writes an 'I'm allergic' column all about herself, but it's fun. She describes her experiences in a way that others with food allergies can relate to."

Today, Table Matters still features writing contributed by staff members, students, industry professionals and food writers all over the U.S. Not only is Table Matters a good resource tool, but some of its features can be quite entertaining. Students, faculty and the general public alike can use the Web site to find recipes, restaurant and beverage reviews, events around the city and stories about food in general. There is also a dictionary of gastronomy in which viewers can learn definitions for widely used food terms.

Lastly, what makes this new publication even more unique is the fact that a "Philly" section has been added. Here, readers can find the latest on everything food related in the Philadelphia region. So whether you're an expert, someone who is fascinated by food, or one who has minimal knowledge, take a peek and learn something new.
