BusinessWeek has ranked the part-time MBA program at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business first in the country for academic quality, and tenth overall in its 2009 rankings. LeBow was the only Philadelphia part-time MBA program to rank within the top thirty.
"The Drexel part-time MBA is committed to exceeding the needs of our students and alumni and is a key factor in their upward mobility, as evidenced by the achievements of our MBA students and alumni," George Tsetsekos, dean of the LeBow College of Business, stated in an article on the LeBow website.
"To be ranked No. 1 in academic quality by BusinessWeek is a testament to our growing stature as one of the world's leading resources for business education. This ranking validates the rigorous experiential education, leadership assessment, and global perspective that LeBow provides," Tsetsekos stated.
Among the top ten in the nation include Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the University of California at Los Angeles and Berkeley, the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and Carnegie Mellon University. Rankings were based on the academic quality of the program, post-MBA results, and MBA student satisfaction surveys, according to BusinessWeek.
According to BusinessWeek, academic quality encompassed criteria including average GMAT score, average student work experience, average class size in the major business classes, the percentage of professors who are tenured, the number of business related electives available to students, and the percentage of students who complete the part-time MBA program.
Highly ranked part-time MBA programs, according to BusinessWeek, provide flexibility to students in difficult circumstances and meaningful career support and also prove to employers that their curriculums are relevant and significant.
The LeBow part-time MBA program Web site cites different completion plans including the Professional MBA, Executive MBA, LEAD MBA, MBA Anywhere, and Corporate MBA. About 81% of part-time students graduate within six years of beginning one of these programs.
The number one ranking in academic quality of the part-time MBA program is among many other rankings for Drexel University. Overall, BusinessWeek ranked the LeBow College of Business among the top thirty in the nation in 2007 and 38th best in 2009. The U.S. News & World Report places Drexel University 88th among all universities in the country, versus 108th in 2008, and ranks it within the top fifty of best private universities. Drexel was also ranked fourth in the up-and-coming national universities category. According to Russian-based Global University Ranking, Drexel is also one of the 98 best universities in the world.
