George Mason beat the Drexel men's soccer team 3-1 Oct. 27 at Vidas Field. Sophomore Taylor Brophy scored his first career goal assisted by freshman Skylar Olson in the 17th minute.

"Fabio [Assumpcao] played a great through-ball. Skylar hit a perfect cross. Cole [Feffer] made space in the box," Brophy said. "And I get all the glory."

Brophy's goal snapped the Dragons' scoreless streak of 250 straight minutes.

Although the Dragons (5-9-1, 1-6-1 Colonial Athletic Association) had to play without some of their regular players due to various ailments, injuries and infractions, freshman keeper Tres Heffron made three stops in the net while Sean Kelley had one save for the Patriots.

According to the Drexel Athletics Web site, "Olson sprinted down the ball on a break, collecting it just before it reached the right sideline. He angled his run and lifted a cross to the far post from 35 yards out. Brophy sprinted from the left side of the box and dove to connect with the header from point-blank range, and blast it past the goalie."

The shot count for both teams was relatively even and Drexel wasn't really outplayed, but George Mason just got more quality looks.

Two of those quality shots for the Patriots came from junior forward Ernesto Marquez, who scored twice in the win over Drexel.

The Dragons will travel to Norfolk, Va. to play Old Dominion Oct. 31 and play a make-up game against UNC Wilmington in North Carolina Nov. 2.
