In order to better communicate with students and strengthen their organization's success at Drexel, Campus Activities Board has begun rebranding itself through the use of new communication tools and an updated logo, as well as a soon to be unveiled new Web site and other initiatives.

"Communication was the big thing we focused on when we rebranded," Dave Saladoff, a senior business administration major and the president of CAB, said.

One major aspect of CAB's rebranding is the organization's new Web site, which they will unveil sometime in November, according to Saladoff. The Web site will feature more event updates and allow students to more easily get in touch with CAB, Saladoff said.

CAB's new logo, which has been in use since September, will be officially unveiled along with the new Web site.

The logo is meant to symbolize key aspects of the organization, according to Saladoff. It depicts a dragon and the Philadelphia skyline, among other features, in order to highlight both Drexel and Philadelphia.

"A lot of student input was put into the logo," Saladoff said.

In addition to the new Web site, CAB hopes to use tools such as Facebook, Twitter and Google Documents to help better communicate with students.

Saladoff said in the past CAB has underutilized technology.

CAB also plans to leave the door to their office open more often, allow students to sit in on CAB board meetings and in winter term start a street team to help increase awareness of events.

Surveying students has also been a key initiative in their improvements.

"We're trying to be more open to students this year and hopefully in the foreseeable future," Saladoff said.

CAB also hopes to jointly plan more events with other students or student organizations, an effort Dean of Students David Ruth believes is a positive change.

"I have been encouraging CAB to collaborate with the other campus student organizations. And they have been doing this. They co-sponsor events with other campus groups," Ruth wrote in an e-mail.

"In years past, there have been concerns from the student population that CAB was not seeking student input into their events and activities. I know that CAB has been aggressively working on this and have used surveys and other means to find out what students would like CAB to be offering," Ruth stated.

Jonathan Kreamer, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering, said it has been difficult in the past to find out about CAB events because information on the events was not as widespread as it could have been.
