Paul: It's kind of like a trial and error kind of thing to see if we like what's going on up here and then in the case that we start working with a label backing us, then we would connect and really work with these guys.
Who have you been recording with up there?
Vince: We're recording with this production team in Brooklyn; they're under the alias Truth and Soul and they've done a lot of cool recent stuff. They've been sampled by Jay-Z, they've written for Grammy award winning artist Adele, and they work with a handful of artists within the Brooklyn scene. They have a very authentic '60s soul kind of sound.
When is the next big Philadelphia show?
Vince: We are playing at the Marathon Bar in University City; it's like a Halloween thing. And I definitely recommend coming out to World Café Live on Nov. 9; it's The Starting Line's DVD release show and we'll be playing a set there. I recommend coming out there-great brew, great sound.
What about before the show, any pre-show rituals?
Vince: As far as getting ready: try not to freak out, try not to stress out, get your head in a good place, and definitely warming up lots of vocals. We go in the back and we do harmony, myself, Paul and Sam. Everyone else has their own rituals; it's kind of whatever works for you.
How about you, Paul?
Paul: No, not really. Everyone's just kind of vibing out. In a situation where there is a backstage, everyone is just hanging out getting ready, making sure everything is in tune, everything is ready to go. But I would agree with Vince; the most important part is getting the vocals warmed up just so when we get out there we all know where we are and what we're there to do.
Do either of you have any favorite songs to play live? Any favorites from other artists?
Vince: To play live in our set, my two favorites are two of our new songs actually, "Chained to Me" and "Holiday." In general, one of my favorite songs is "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys.

I love Cheap Seats! And I absolutely love the Beach Boys reference. You can definitely feel the influence in the music.
