On Oct. 10 during the Navy Day Regatta, fifty neo-Nazis gathered at the statue of Thorfinn Karlsefni near Boat House Row to honor their heritage and celebrate Leif Erikson day. Also in attendance were several members of different anti hate groups, two dozen police officers, two detectives, many confused observers of the regatta, and several bikers and joggers.

In addition to members of the Keystone State Skinheads who sponsored the event, the Maryland "Skinheads," Volksfront and the Vinlander Social Club were also present. The Leif Erikson Day celebration was marketed as a family style event on the Keystone State Skinheads Web site.

"I'm here because there is a group of neo-Nazis who are marching here for the third year in a row, and I'm always out here whenever they come out. My role here is to document. If any child is going to be raised that way they're going to have a hard way to go when they're adults," Daryle Lamont Jenkins, with the One People's Project, said.

The group of protesters consists of nine men and women from different anti-hate organizations who have tried disrupt the proceedings. According to the One People's Project Web site, the anti-hate protestors mocked the ceremony by making references to the recently released movie "Inglorious Bastards."

"We're just honoring our culture our ancestry, not being hateful, just taking pride in who and what we are. Everyone else seems to be allowed and encouraged to do so. Whites are the only ones who are discouraged in doing so. As Ben Franklin said, resisting is the best form of patriotism. This is what we're doing we're resisting the death of our culture by promoting our culture," Chris, a Keystone State Skinhead who did not want to disclose his last name, said.

The neo-Nazis were almost uncomfortable surrounded by the regatta observers as well as the remarks of the anti-hate groups as they tried to perform a ceremony around the statue of the explorer. Many of the children shuffled awkwardly around the crowd or sat on the grass and played their handheld game systems, while their parents tried to soak in the event.

This is so full of fallacy its shameful to see it got published. Get your facts straight and patch your holes before you get charged with libel.

I feel mortified by this portrayal of our cause. It isn't right and will not be tolerated.
