After a close 1-1 tie with Old Dominion, the women's soccer team remained winless in the Colonial Athletic Conference after 1-0 loss to the William & Mary Tribe earlier this week. The loss drops the Dragons to 0-3-1 in the conference and 2-8 overall.

Cortlyn Bristol scored the lone goal of the game when she deposited a shot behind Drexel keeper Nicole Sinclair in the 27th minute. Sinclair was the star of the game for Drexel, making seven saves in the second half to keep the Dragons within striking distance of the Tribe.

Although the score was not all that lopsided, in reality the Dragons were on their heels for the majority of the game. The Tribe was able to fire 26 shots during the contest, while the Dragons were only able to get off four. In fact, W&M forward, Erin Liberatore, outshot the Dragons by herself with six attempts.

William & Mary (9-3, 3-1 CAA) is currently second in the CAA standings behind only Hofstra (7-3-1, 4-0) It is clearly a team that is more experienced than the young Dragons, and used its experience to hold the Dragons to a very limited offensive performance. The Tribe's only conference loss came against Delaware just a week ago in a close 1-0 contest.

Drexel is currently tied for 11th place in the conference with Georgia State. Thus far this season, the team has allowed 23 goals in just 11 games, while only scoring 13. In order to pull out wins in a tough CAA conference, the team must buckle down on defense to allow itself to have a chance to win late in games.

Next up for the Dragons is a very winnable game against VCU, who has only won one game in the CAA (5-5-2, 1-2-1); and then they have tough challenge against James Madison Oct. 11.

The Dragons have only won two games this year, but both have been at home. Maybe a return to Vidas Field will allow the women to notch their first conference win of the year over the weekend.
