Taco Bell Express opens

Though it may seem odd that the Taco Bell is having its grand opening after it has already opened, Drexel Business Services Senior Associate Vice President Rita LaRue Gollotti said, "It is customary in the industry for retail dining locations to have a 'soft' opening period to work out operational issues and then celebrate with a grand opening event a month or so later."
The idea of having a Taco Bell Express developed last spring when Drexel and their dining partner, Sodexo asked students what restaurant they would like to see at Drexel. Less than six months later, Taco Bell Express opened in Hagerty Library's Bookmark Café.
"The Bookmark Café at the Hagerty Library, which opened [with] the 24-hour library study space, was not successful at meeting the dining desires of the student population." Gollotti said. "The design and operations of Taco Bell Express was selected as a good fit that would require minimal changes to the rest of the space and the number of seats."
Students have had mixed feelings about the new dining option at the library.
"I like that there's a Taco Bell in the library," Alex Alspach, third year mechanical engineer, said.
"It's convenient," Rochelle Gordon, junior fashion design major, said. "There are no outside eating options on campus other than Drexel eating facilities."
Though many have said that they enjoy Drexel's new eatery, there have also been many complaints.
A major complaint has been about the selection.
"All I wanted is a soft chicken taco and the lady didn't know what I was talking about," Gordon said.
"The Taco Bell at the Hagerty Library is an Express, not a restaurant-style Taco Bell." Gollotti said,"Drexel's Taco Bell Express is one of Taco Bell's newest designs, and does not contain fryers or steamers. Given its location, this was important to Drexel and allows for better control of cooking odors."
However, compared to the selection at 34th and Walnut's Taco Bell Express, there is quite a difference. Hagerty's Taco Bell menu lists 33 items; the 34th street's location, on the other hand, has over 50 items available.
However, the main complaint has been slow service.
"I've heard many people say that it was so slow that by the time that they got their food, it was cold." Alspach said. "Isn't it called fast food?"

comon.. who selected a taco bell for the library. There is one at 30th street station and one on penns campus. The food is not healthy at all and the smell is probably awful. (Continued…)

It's too bad that service is so slow, but it looks like it's getting better. Still, it would have been nice if they had chosen a healthier food provider. (Continued…)
