Food carts serve variety, crepes prove best spot

Food trucks are ingrained into the fast food culture of Philadelphians. Here at Drexel, the students use the food trucks as one tool to battle hunger as well as to escape the fate of eating from the Hans. Surprisingly though, it seems that many Drexel students aren't aware of the wide array of restaurant-quality food that is out there at relatively cheap prices. Because of the absence of high property costs, the food trucks are able to serve great food for less and many of them are extremely hygienic, serving food to order, starting with fresh ingredients.
The best part is that the subject of the food carts has long ago branched from the standard (but gratifyingly succulent) cheese steaks, hoagies and bacon egg and cheese wraps making Philadelphia's fast food options as interesting and diverse as its inhabitants. Looking just around the campus, there are a multitude of creative and ethnic options available, which is exactly the niche we have looked to capture in this article.
The winner of our search is La Dominique Creperie, a charming silver cart standing by the side of the library closer to the School of Law building shaded by a "mycricket.com" umbrella protruding from the truck. A former professional sculptor from Poland with a master's in fine arts, Zbigniew Chojnacki has certain standards he sticks to and a certain air of perfection that he applies to every crepe he makes. His eggs, for example are some of the best around, never produced using caged chickens, hormones or antibiotics. His flavor combinations are unique and well thought out including a Viennese with coffee cream, bananas and pralines, a peach and blueberry panna cotta crepe, and a coconut chicken vegetable.
For the less adventurous, there is a pizza crepe that is quite delicious and more elegant than it sounds. They are a similar price to a cheese steak with the works, but they are just as filling, and really delicious. Getting crepes of the same quality in a restaurant will run you in the range of $9 to $15. It can take you some time to get your crepe during prime lunch hours, so go at less busy times (Chojnacki suggests 2 p.m.). If you're looking for some "mmmmm" or even just some friendly conversation, stop by La Dominique Creperie during a break in your day-you can find both there.
