Students win CEO certificates

Student Life, LeBow College of Business and the Office of Campus Activities held the 11th annual CEO Awards June 2.
The keynote speaker Dan Simmons, an associate director of Drexel Athletics, said he was not there to lecture the award recipients, but to provide them with practical advice.
Walter Parrish, OCA coordinator of leadership and community development, and Ari Hauben, director of the OCA, presented the awards.
Freshman Amey Khanolkar was the only student to receive the Distinguished Services to the Community Certificate. In addition to the required workshops, Khanolkar devoted over 50 hours to community service.
Alisha Merchant and Solomon Chikioke were the only two students to receive the Outstanding Commitment to Leadership Development Certificate. Each student attended over thirty workshops during the course of the year.
Ten student organizations received the Excellent Organization Certificate - the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting, Drexel African Student Association, Delta Zeta Sorority, Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Pragathi, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Society of Women Engineers, Violence Information and Education for Women and Women's Rugby Club.
One hundred thirty-four students earned the Personal Leadership Certificate and 22 students earned the Advanced Leadership Certificate.
Ten students earned the Fraternity & Sorority Life Leadership Certificate, and two students earned the Advanced Fraternity & Sorority Life Leadership Certificate.
Thirteen students earned the Women's Leadership Certificate, 34 students earned the Emerging Leader Certificate, nine students earned the Sports Leadership Certificate, 44 students received the Organizational Leadership Certificate, and 13 earned the Diversity Education Certificate.
Eighteen students completed one of the two CEO II courses, in either "Learning the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" or "21 Indispensible Qualities of a Leader."
Over 270 CEO certifications were earned during the 2008-2009 school year, according to Parrish.

The CEO Awards reception was a huge success. It's an honor to see my name published in the Triangle.
