Over 50 awards were given to both chapters and individual students throughout the evening.
Highlights include the naming of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Delta Zeta Sorority and Delta Phi Omega Sorority as the recipients of the Dean's Cup for their respective councils.
"The coveted Dean's Cup is a great accomplishment for any sorority or fraternity on our campus. To be recognized by the dean and given acknowledgement for our achievements are the greatest honors," Dhruti Patel, Delta Phi Omega president, said.
According to Patel, Delta Phi Omega must remain in good standing not only with Drexel University but also with the University of the Sciences and Temple University, as a citywide chapter.
"As president, I believe that our sisters are one of a kind, and it is our love for our Greek letters that hold us together in times of need and work well together," Patel said. "We have truly aimed to make a difference in Philadelphia, and I believe that we have accomplished more than that."
Other awards include recognition for philanthropic event of the year. The recipients this year include Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity for their Relay for Life, which benefited the American Cancer Society and Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority for their Rock-a-thon, which benefited the National Kidney Foundation. Iota Nu Delta Fraternity, Inc. is the recipient of the Philanthropic Award.
"One of the core values of our sorority is leadership through service, and we are very dedicated to our philanthropic activities," Danielle Smith, Phi Sigma Sigma president, said.
The sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma rose over $3,700 to donate to the National Kidney Foundation.
Greek Week 2009 winners were formally recognized that evening as well-Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, Iota Nu Delta Fraternity and Delta Phi Omega Sorority.
"I could not have been more proud of my chapter this past Greek Week," Patel said. "[Since] one of our sister's step up to take the Greek Week Chair position, on behalf of the Multicultural Greek Council, the dynamic of Greek Week was very different this year."
Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity won Greek Week for the fourth year in a row.
Fraternity and Sorority Life also acknowledged four Drexel students as men and women of the year.
Amanda Ally of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and Khushbu Kheti of Delta Phi Omega Sorority received the Panhellenic and Multicultural Greek Councils Woman of the Year awards, respectively. George Millili of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Dom Lewis of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity received the Interfraternity and Multicultural Greek Councils Man of the Year awards, respectively.
