They started popping up in your Facebook newsfeed and your text message inbox over the past week or two, as they do every year - the unavoidable cries of jubilation as a large chunk of the college population ended its school year, while we at Drexel remain indoors and amidst textbooks. Many of our friends from home are away at the beach or beginning summer internships. It's hard to study for exams with the sun blazing so brightly. When you have to spend an entire summer day inside, the day is just muggy rather than sunny.

For many of us, summer break is one short week in mid-June, and then it's back to class for an entire term before the fall. We at The Triangle urge you to revel in the collegiate experience. Aside from the constant exams, all-nighters, deadlines, term papers, 8:00 AM classes and - well, there's a lot to resent. But try to take a trip over a weekend, get out of the city and away from homework for some fresh air. And, keep in mind it's these work-filled summers that allow us to gain valuable professional experience on co-ops and get accelerated degrees in shorter amounts of time than our counterparts at other schools.

Our vacationless summers help prepare us to the often vacationless life of the career world. As Drexel students, we take pride in our work ethic - it's what sets our student body apart from any other student body at any other university.

Keep your head held high and stay motivated through the hot months, and if there is a climate problem in one of your classrooms, make sure to make noise so it gets fixed. Since we go to school in the summer, we deserve a comfortable environment in which to learn - the shadow of the Drexel Shaft alone certainly isn't enough to keep us cool.
