Dear Editor,

The first 100 days of Obama's presidency seem to be as far-fetched as humanly possible according to almost every 24-hour news program.

Thankfully, last week when CNN reviewed the opinions on the coverage, they found that most people felt that the media was overbearing and did not cover what the viewers wanted to see. For example, during the past 100 days, the main topic of discussion was the economy. What about social issues such as gay marriage, environmental problems and the legalization of marijuana?

The news media also discouraged viewers by smothering the public with news of the swine flu, when that same week about 250 Iraqis were killed and hundreds wounded, the most violence that Iraq has seen in over a year.

Also, I would like to remind Andrew Aversa, who wrote an article for the Op-Ed Section in response to my article on media bias, of the meaning of democracy. Thomas Jefferson described it as "nothing more than mob rule, where 51 percent of the people may take away the rights of the other 49."

Also, collectively associating all Republicans as neo-conservatives that support George Bush's tactics in office is a misrepresentation of the entire Republican Party, and it does not represent those who attended Tax Day tea party rallies.

Those who attended the parties support the limited government and less taxes - and in fact, they probably do believe that the country has almost reached a tyrannical state due to the disaffiliation with the Constitution. I thoroughly believe that if every American was educated on the Constitution, they would see that the role of government has become far beyond what it was intended - and not feel that the current state of affairs is perfectly fine.
