Drexel snapped its five-game losing skid as it swept rival Penn in a doubleheader at Drexel Field April 22.
The Dragons (22-16) took game one in exciting fashion, winning 6-5. The Quakers (12-27-1) had runners on first and second in the top of the seventh inning with Drexel holding a one-run lead.
Bridget McDugall hit a single to short left field, but senior Christina Rodriguez played it perfectly, delivering a one-bounce strike to catcher Paige Collins that arrived just in time for the final out.
Rookie Hillary Allen earned her 10th win of the year and Sandi Wambold hit her team-leading sixth homerun of the season.
Game two started off quickly for the Dragons as they lit up Penn starter Chelsea Ott for five runs in the first inning, punctuated by a three-run homer off the bat of Paige Collins.
Penn fought back in the third inning, cutting the score to 5-2 and adding another in the fourth.
However, Drexel was able to complete the sweep after heavy rain and hail showers descended on Drexel Field in the top of the sixth, forcing the game to be called.
Women's Lacrosse Ends Seven-Game Skid with 18-4 Win Over Wagner
Drexel jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first half and never looked back, defeating Wagner 18-4 on Senior Day April 21 at Vidas Field.
The Dragons scored early as Ali Allen (three goals) scored her first goal just over three minutes into the contest to start the 10-0 run.
Charlotte Wood (three goals) and Katie Lawson (two goals), Drexel's leading scorer, each tallied two goals in the scoring burst. The Seahawks finally got on board with 9:13 left in the first half on a goal by Kristen Malayter.
But the Dragons scored three more goals in the first half, including Catalina Friscia's first career goal, to take a 13-1 halftime lead.
The difference grew to 15 goals after Allen scored her third and final goal with 20:04 left to put the Dragons up 16-1.
Wagner scored three of the final five goals to end the game at 18-4. Goalie Lauren LaBella earned her 42nd career victory, the most for any goalie in Drexel's Division I women's lacrosse history.
The Dragons end their season at Hofstra April 25.
