The weekend of April 17, the men's golf team finished ninth in the CAA championships.

The Dragons were led by freshman Andrew Lawson, who recorded the tournament's only hole-in-one as well as the first in his lifetime.

"It was a shock. I was not expecting to do it on that hole [12th] because that hole cost me a few strokes on the first two days," Lawson said. "It felt like redemption. I was not expecting a hole-in-one on my first CAA championships."

Lawson, who started his third round on the 10th hole, finished his back nine with a 37. He finished the day at a two-over-par 74, with that hole-in-one on the 186-yard, par 3, 12th hole, jump-starting his day. Lawson, who shot an 83 the day before was just looking to recover with a better performance.

Lawson feels that he could have maintained that two-under-par he was shooting after the hole-in-one, but after settling for par on the following two holes, he had bad reads on the greens of both the 15th and 16th holes and three-putted them both.

The closest to Lawson on the third day was sophomore Trevor Sahn, who shot a 79. Lawson believed that the problem for his team was that it could not coordinate solid rounds on the same day.

"Overall, we did not play up to our potential, but we put up respectable numbers amongst our peers," Lawson said.

As a freshman, Lawson had nowhere near the expectations of what he achieved this season. Lawson described his first ace as something that nothing else could top; nothing would ever be the same.

"As a freshman, with the schedule we had, I was prepared for the actual conference championships," Lawson said. "That contributed to the style of play in the tournament."

The team performed well on the first day of competition with Sahn shooting a one-over-par 73; Lawson shot a 76; senior Sean Semenetz shot a 79, senior Mike Carr shot an 81; and junior Andy Frank finished with an 82.
