Women's Basketball Season by the Numbers

The women's basketball team put together a run of historic proportion, making the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Here's a look at their 2008-09 season by the numbers.
1: In a year of firsts the Dragons won their first-ever and the University's first-ever CAA Tournament championship and also appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the first time. Also Gabriela Marginean won her first CAA Player of the Year award.
3: CAA Coach of the Year awards for head coach Denise Dillon.
5: The number of wins Drexel had in out-of-conference play. It went just 5-6.
12: Drexel's seed in the NCAA Tournament
16: The number of consecutive games the Dragons won from Jan. 18 to March 15, which tied the record set by the 1989-90 team. Also, the number of wins Drexel had in CAA action - a program best.
17: The number of consecutive times that the Lady Monarchs won the CAA Tournament and made the NCAA Tournament.
23.3: Marginean's scoring average for the season.
24: The Dragons won a program-record 24 games this season against only nine losses.
33: The number of points Drexel held Delaware to in its most dominating defensive performance in program history.
36.7: The average number of minutes senior point guard Andrea Peterson played per game.
40: The number of points Marginean scored against Old Dominion in Drexel's 67-55 regular season win at the DAC Feb. 12.
51: Old Dominion was a perfect 51-0 in CAA Tournament games before falling to Drexel in the semifinals.
80.2: The team's free throw percentage collectively.
89.7: Marginean's free throw percentage this year.
90: The number of 3-pointers made this season by sophomore Jasmina Rosseel - a new program record.
101: The number of assists Peterson had this year. Her 2.5/1 assist-to-turnover ratio was first in the nation.
769: The number of points scored by Marginean this season. She now holds both the Drexel and CAA single-season scoring records.
1,750: The number of miles the Dragons traveled to play Kansas State in Albuquerque, N.M.
1,854: The number of points Marginean has scored during her illustrious career.
1987-88: The year Drexel last won a conference championship. Unfortunately, the team was not chosen for the NCAA Tournament.
1991-92: The year Old Dominion started its reign of championships in the CAA.
1996: The last time the men's basketball team reached the NCAA Tournament. The No. 12 Dragons went on to upset No. 5 Memphis 75-63 in the first round behind 21 points and 15 rebounds from Malik Rose.
