Drexel University's Relay For Life event will be held April 4 at the armory. So far, the event has raised approximately $42,000 for the American Caner Society, according to Nick Hoppel, co-chair for Relay.
"Working with the American Cancer Society, Drexel University, the [Pi Kappa Alpha] fraternity and bringing a lot of different pieces together, as of now, we've raised over $42,000 and we're pulling in a lot of different types of people in this mix, including students, staff, friends and family," Hoppel said.
So far 60 teams including 458 people have participated in the event. About 500 are expected to attend the 12-hour event this Saturday, according to Hoppel.
"A lot of diff kinds of circles are being pulled for this event, and it has certainly opened my eyes in networking and how to hold events particularly on Drexel's campus," Hoppel said. "It's been really empowering working with other students that can get just excited about [Relay] cause as I am."
The fundraising goal for the event $75,000 and Hoppel said he thinks the goal is reachable.
Students and staff can walk into the event and take part in the activities. For more information, visit drexelrelay.com
