"I would be lying if I said Mazz [Mazzeo] and I achieved this feat on our own," Fischer said. "Thanks to Larry Epstein and the members of WKDU, we were able to accomplish something special for the University and create new opportunities for those trying to get into the field of broadcast journalism."

The broadcast will allow students and Drexel fans around the city to experience a live play-by-play experience that was not available over the radio in the past. If the No. 1 seeded Dragons play well, WKDU may have the opportunity to air the CAA championship game for the first time in the history of the University.

Larry Epstein, Drexel's program director of Entertainment & Arts Management, has been an essential part of making the sports broadcasts possible.

"This has been an important expansion of WKDU's sports programming, building on the Mazz and the Fisch talk show launched last year," Epstein said. "WKDU's programming philosophy is to provide listeners with programming they cannot get on any other radio station in town, and Drexel women's basketball is a terrific example of how WKDU is serving the community with compelling, unique local programming."

As if broadcasting the first women's basketball CAA tournament wasn't enough, Fischer and Mazzeo are going to be announcing the game alongside Delsi, who was inducted into the Drexel Hall-of-Fame this year.

"Pat Delsi has been the voice of Drexel basketball for so many years," Mazzeo said. "It's going to be great working with a Drexel Hall of Famer yet again."

Drexel's women basketball games will also be broadcasted with the help of prospective sports radio hosts. Alex Falk, Mike Shinbrot and Mike Spadola will be helping produce from WKDU studios in Creese Student Center while Mazzeo, Fischer and Delsi commentate from James Madison University.

The hosts of "Mazz and the Fisch Sports Radio" have helped pave a way for future students have a great impact on sports journalism and broadcasting at Drexel University. Even though Fischer graduates at the end of spring term, next year, Mazzeo and others will continue to pursue a more unified relationship between WKDU and Drexel sports by expanding to other sports.

This weekend is just another step to making WKDU a more well-rounded radio station. The combination of music and talk radio will allow the station to attract more listeners around the campus and city.
