Men's lacrosse loses in opener

The men's lacrosse team dropped its season opener to Virginia 13-7 Feb. 14 in Charlottesville, Va.

The Cavaliers (1-0), ranked first in the country by Nike/Inside Lacrosse and second in the USILA poll, scored the game's first seven goals and cruised to victory. Virginia senior Garrett Billings scored five goals - tying his career high - and added two assists.

Kevin Stockel had a hat-trick for the Dragons (0-1), while Kyle Bergman and Scott Perri each had a goal and an assist. Greg Casey and freshman Dana Wilber also tallied for Drexel.

Freshman goalie Mark Manos made his first career start for the Dragons, making 17 saves.

Drexel scored three man-advantage goals and won 13 of 24 face-offs. The Dragons were outshot 59-23.
