According to Austin Wong, senior environmental engineering major and ASCE vice president, the invitation-only event included a social hour, followed by the Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge student presentations. Following was a speech from the keynote speaker, former Drexel president and CEO C.E. "Chuck" Pennoni.
"There were about 73 people total, mostly consisting of alumni and sponsors," Wong said. "There were CAEE faculty and students as well as COE and personnel from University Relations that were in attendance."
According to Wong, ASCE president Mohammed Majd and ASCE event coordinator Chris Russell met Pennoni at an ASCE conference in Pittsburgh, where they discussed the possibility of Pennoni speaking at the dinner.
The dinner concluded with an "Are You Smarter Than A Drexel Engineering Undergrad?" trivia competition. Wong said the trivia competition got not only current Drexel students involved, but many of the alumni, as well.
"Most of the students that were in attendance knew about the trivia competition, but many of the alumni got really into it and tried to work out the problems," Wong said. "Everyone had a fun time."
