Drexel was looking to improve its record to 2-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association, but it lost to William & Mary 63-57 Jan. 8.
The Dragons (6-7, 1-1) hope to renew their winning ways against their conference foes as they play four of the next five games at the DAC, before heading to Hofstra, UNC Wilmington and George Mason for three consecutive road games.
In December, the Dragons got off to a slow 1-3 start after losing to Army 55-49 at the DAC, Richmond 73-60 and Holy Cross 63-58. Their only victory was a 62-52 triumph against Penn.
But since then, the Dragons have tried to turn things around, winning two of their past three games, including wins over Maine in the St. Joseph's University Classic and Delaware in CAA play, before losing to William & Mary.
One of the reasons the team has been playing better as of late is due to the positive contribution from players outside of CAA Preseason Player of the Year Gabriela Marginean.
In their win over Penn, freshman Kamile Nacickaite scored a career-high 17 points and freshman Marisa Crane had eight points, five assists and four rebounds.
If the Dragons want to turn their season around in a positive way, Marginean (23.3 ppg) will need more help on a consistent basis from other starters and role players.
Only Nacickaite (9.2) and Rosseel (10.1) are averaging more than 4.5 ppg.
