Who are your heroes?
We all have those who we look up to - whether it is someone famous or someone close to home. They are the people we strive to be like, the example by which we live our lives. I, for one, have a great number of heroes whose example I try to follow - for their positive influences have helped me especially through the hard times.
Hollywood has always presented us with a great number of heroes, however throughout the picture business' empire, the greatest has got to be Hepburn. No, not Audrey, though adorable and chic she may be and how her love stories invoke such passionate dreams of a grand romance, the Hepburn I am referring to is Katherine.
Now she was a woman: strong, brave, and daring. Her roles were often that independent woman who could equal any man. Not much of a feat today, but for her time she was quite brazen. One of my favorite Hepburn movies "Adam's Rib," she plays a lawyer. Opposite Hepburn is one Spencer Tracy, another genius actor; another lawyer with obvious romantic tensions. Her provocative mannerisms and speeches are forceful, near masculine, while she still maintains her feminine beauty. She transcends the traditional role of woman as home maker and becomes a legendary hero of sorts. Another great movie is "African Queen," when Hepburn dares to defy the German's alongside the infamous Humphrey Bogart. Her defiance in the face of great danger puts her into the pantheons, alongside such heroes as Hercules and Achilles.
