"Every college and major university has some sort of fight song or chant," Sassi said. "Since there already is [a chant], we should use it and bring it back."

The one common understanding between students and faculty alike was the style of the fight song as a whole.

"It's definitely outdated," junior Bill Torr, vice president of the DAC Pack said.

However, Sassi countered, "It was written in 1939, so its definitely going to be old fashioned."

Even so, the implementing of this truly old tradition is, according to Sassi, a necessity.

"Drexel doesn't have very many traditions to begin with because of the changes in its history and the fact that it's a co-op school."

Sassi, an alumna of Rutgers University, believes that resurrecting an age-old tradition is just what this school needs to pick up its spirits.

Sassi also added that there would be an "unveiling" of the fight song at the free T-shirt giveaway Nov. 18 at the tailgate before the Drexel-Penn game.

I went to Drexel when we did use it, and I always thought some parts were weak and the words corny. I think some minor changes to the tune and rewrite of the words would help. (Continued…)
