Women's field hockey hopes to be the first Drexel team to advance to the NCAA Tournament since moving to the Colonial Athletic Association.

The Dragons have won eight consecutive games and have a 7-1 record in the CAA. Their lone blemish was 2-1 loss at No. 4 James Madison.

Drexel is the No. 2 seed in the CAA Tournament and earns a first-round bye. The No. 14 Dragons will play the winner of the Old Dominion/Towson match Nov. 8 in Virginia Beach.

One of the reasons Drexel (16-3, 7-1 CAA) has done so well this season is due to the scoring production of several different players.

Throughout the regular season, Susan Ciufo led Drexel with 46 points (19 goals and eight assists), Christina Mastropaolo had 32 points (13 goals and six assists), Carolina Gibernau had 26 points (seven goals and 12 assists) and Kim Tunell also had 26 points (eight goals and 10 assists).

Men's soccer misses playoffs

The men's soccer team was fighting for a spot in the CAA Championships and needed a win in its regular season finale to stay alive, but lost to William & Mary 3-0 Nov. 6 to finish 6-7-5 overall and 4-4-3 in the conference.

Goal keeper Cory Robertson finished his career just four shutouts shy of the all-time Drexel record of 17. Last season the men's soccer team won a share of the CAA regular season title.
