Two students were robbed at gunpoint inside their home on 3200 Summer St. Oct. 28 around 4 p.m. when perpetrators entered the house through an unlocked door, according to an incident report from Drexel's Department of Public Safety.
One victim was lying on the couch and one was in the house when two suspects entered the house through an unlocked door, according to Robert Lis, assistant director of investigations for Drexel Public Safety.
One victim, a male student, was forced to his knees and told to put his head in the couch while at gunpoint. The other victim, a female student, was brought upstairs to get the electronics, according to the report. Duct tape was wrapped around the victims wrists and they were told by the suspects not to leave or they would be killed. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction, according to the report.
The suspects were described as black males, both wearing navy blue hoodies, skull caps, dark blue jeans, dark gloves, carrying 9mm handguns with bandanas on their faces, one red and the other blue, according to the report.
The suspects' faces were completely covered, according to Lis.
Approximately $10,700 worth of electronics was stolen and there were no injuries, according to the report.
The investigation is still ongoing, police said.
Video surveillance is being used and there has been an increase of patrol on campus, according to Dominic Ceccanecchio, senior associate vice president for Public Safety.
In the past week, four other incidents of robbery occurred as well.
A strong arm robbery occurred on the 3400 block of Lancaster Ave. Oct. 24 outside the 7-Eleven when four black youth males took a female's cell phone out of her hands while she was exiting the store. The suspects fled on foot and dropped the phone. Two suspects were apprehended by the Philadelphia Police Department; however, the victim could not identify them and they were released, according to the report.
