Sass Attack!
Suzette De La Cré
Issue date: 10/31/08 Section: Arts & Entertainment
I just bought a denim vest, but what should I wear with it?
Finally, a fashion question pour moi! I am a queen of the catwalk, after all. Well, as I do not know the questioner of this inquiry, not knowing their gender puts me at a disadvantage. So, let's say you're a sassy lass(ie). Might I suggest pairing that new denim vest with an adorable dress and some western inspired boots for a cowgirl look? Yee-haw!
What if you're a sassy lad? I'm going to suggest wearing it over a nice button down collared shirt, maybe with vertical stripes, then a pair of pressed chinos in a khaki color and a nice blazer. Finish yourself off with some nice leather shoes and you are out the door in style. Work it!
How do I make a great first impression?
I'm so glad you asked, as this is one of my favorite topics of discussion! Whether you realize it or not, every second you are outside of your home you are making a first impression. We live in a city full of life. Every moment, someone new sees you.
So, it has always been my opinion that every moment you live, you do so at your best.
Who knows when prince charming might show up-he might bump into you in three, two, one. Wouldn't that have been eerie? If he did, I want details!
What does this entail? Toss out those sweats and Uggs and make every appearance one worth making. I'm not suggesting walking out of the house and onto the red carpet, but at least look good enough to run into that cute boy you sit behind in econ class. And most importantly, be yourself. And be proud of yourself.
Say to yourself, "I am someone worth being." That's not ego-that's confidence, and confidence makes for an amazing first impression. And remember, first impressions aren't always everything, so if you make a mistake, don't get all bent out of shape. You'll do better next time. Smile!
