Unigo.com, a web site that offers a look at campus life through reviews, photos, videos, and more from 15,000 students in 250 colleges nationwide, including Drexel University, launched Sept. 17.

"This site finally gives college students a platform to elevate their voices," Jordan Goldman, CEO and founder of Unigo.com, said. "It speaks to the fact that they didn't really have any way to affect change in their schools, but now the hope is that these schools will see the comments on this site and try to change things for the better."

According to Goldman, Unigo.com provides advantages for both college students and prospective students.

"For the students currently in college, this provides social networking opportunities," Goldman said. "They can contribute information about their college and interact with each other over common interests. The high school students and parents finally have an authentic window into college life."

The site also allows people to search for student reviews specific to their own major or interests.

"You can see the school through the eyes of someone just like you," Goldman said.

Nikki Martinez, an editor at Unigo.com, said she saw the site as an opportunity for students to express themselves differently than before.

"We were pleasantly surprised at the positive response we got from students," Martinez said. "Students finally have a place where they can honestly speak their mind about their college."

On Drexel's Unigo page, Ishtiaque Ahmed, a junior engineering major, wrote that the heavy workload separates Drexel students.

"Drexel being a 10-week quarter school demands in 10 weeks what most other schools do in 15. In other words, its not surprising to see both an engineer and an art major studying or working on a project on a Friday night," Ahmed wrote. "In fact, I think that's what sets the good DU students apart from the average and helps so many of them land good co-ops with big names like Dupont, GSK, Rohm and Haas, Lockheed Martin etc."
