This Providence plays Philadelphia Oct. 15

Out from the corner of the Pacific Northwest, This Providence have emerged proving that Christian rock doesn't have to be bland. While their songs are spiritual in many senses, they can easily be related to anyone despite the person's religious ideas.
This Providence have found a way to stay true to their own beliefs but still leave their music open to the interpretation of the listener which is why they are signed to non-denominational label Fueled By Ramen, along with bands like Panic at the Disco and Paramore.
The Triangle caught up with Australian native and This Providence frontman, Daniel Young, to discuss new music, touring and more. If you get the chance, find your way to The Electric Factory Oct. 15 to see the band perform live alongside Relient K, Ludo, and House of Heroes.
The Triangle: The Bright Lights EP is the first new music you've released in awhile. How does it feel to be putting out something new?
Dan Young: It feels really good. It's just hard being patient because the EP is kind of just a thing to get us through the next couple months because we have an album coming out in January. It definitely feels good to be putting something new out 'cause I get frustrated with the old record.
TT: What has the response been like for the new songs at shows?
DY: So far the response has been really good. I haven't heard anything but good things about them.
TT: What was the experience like recording via a live feed online?
DY: That was fun. It was kind of silly. The guy we did the record with, the producer Matt Squire, wasn't too big of a fan of the web cam being on. So we'd just put it on a little bit every day. It was good having people be able to look at it but it didn't seem like people were really interested recording. They just wanted to see us being dudes on the camera.
TT: Is January pretty much set for your new album release or is that still negotiable?
DY: Right now they're looking at January, the end of January. [They want] to have it come out then which I hope. I don't see any reason why that should change but it does sometimes.
