Now, with another wave of freshmen on campus, Drexel Votes 2008 is working to make sure all students that are eligible to vote are registered here in Philadelphia.
"It is so much easier to vote here on campus instead of trying to go home the day of the elections," Miller said.
"We have placed registration forms with instructions in their dorm rooms in their welcome pack. Representatives of Drexel Votes will be visiting each University 101 classroom. University 101 instructors are encouraging attendance at the rally and other Drexel Votes events," Dahan said.
During the next six weeks until the Nov. 4 election, there will be additional political activities sponsored by groups here on Drexel's campus.
According to Dahan, the Office of International Programs will host "Global Perspectives on the U.S. Presidential Election" Oct. 1 in MacAlister 2019/2020 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Also, the Center for Civic Engagement and the Committee of Seventy will be hosting a proxy debate and debate watch party Oct. 15 in Bossone auditorium from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In addition, the Drexel Democrats and Drexel Republicans will co-sponsor two planned debates-one on energy and one on the economy, which will be held Oct. 8 and Oct. 29, respectively, in Bossone auditorium, Miller wrote in an e-mail.
"I think that if students have the opportunity to get involved politically and socially, they would appreciate their undergraduate experience far more," Dahan said.
Dan Baker, announcer for Drexel's Men's basketball games, will kick off the Sept. 29 event, according to Dahan.
Live music and refreshments will be served as well.
