Freshmen this year should be excited to be entering this University at a time when it is at the top of its game, academically, professionally and socially.

Drexel was ranked in the U.S. News & World Report's top 100 Best National Universities; it is continuing to connect students through co-ops with Philadelphia's Fortune 500 companies; and the campus is getting a facelift with the expansion of existing structures and construction of new buildings over the course of the next few years.

It's no mystery that we all have our qualms about Drexel now and again, and surely freshmen will quickly hear or inevitably learn by personal experience about the "Drexel Shaft." But in these first few months, also be sure to make an effort to see the brighter side of Drexel - you might be pleasantly surprised.

Time and time again, The Triangle's Editorial Board urges students on campus to become more involved. The fall is the perfect time to start something new, whether it is a sport, a club or other organization.

There are a myriad of possibilities, but it is still up to you to discover them. Being a part of this campus can mean a lot more than just staking a spot in a dormitory or sitting in a classroom. Don't wait until your University 101 teacher forces you to get involved - do it for yourself, and do something you actually enjoy.

If you are in a frenzy over the presidential race and want to voice your opinions, take a stab at a student political organization. Or, if you are passionate about the environment, join one of the many green-driven groups on campus. In the past year, Drexel has received awards and recognition for student voter registrations and environmental sustainability initiatives.

So, for now, try to look past the construction and blocked streets on campus. Dig a little deeper into your new territory, and make your mark.
