As steps are taken toward the implementation of Drexel's Police Force, the University is currently hiring for the Director of Police Operations position. As we have said before, we are very happy with the project, and now we are pleased with how the University is hiring the people that will run it.

34 people have applied for the position, and while we are still in the early steps of the hiring process, so far everything we could ask for as students is being done.

From the criteria used to select applicants to the plan to have candidates meet with students and faculty, all the steps being taken will ensure that the best possible person is hired.

As the project moves forward, we would love to see this openness continue. When it comes time to narrow the field, we want to hear specifically what the candidates' plans of action will be.

And we don't want hear spin or vague promises, but concrete plans that will make this campus safer.

The Triangle applauds the rapid yet careful development of the campus police department, and we hope that students will remain informed and involved with building the force.
