Max Brindle, a freshman in the LeBow College of business and a member of Drexel's lacrosse team, died the morning of June 18 after a bicycling accident in his hometown, Wayne, Pa.
Brindle, 20, was riding his bicycle when it crashed into the back of a car, according to the Daily News. He was rushed to Bryn Mawr Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of a neck injury.
"He was a great kid," his mother, Gari Brindle, said to the Daily News. "He was larger than life. He could light up a room."
Brindle recently just completed his first lacrosse season at Drexel, according to thee Drexel Dragons web site; however, his passion for lacrosse started much earlier.
According to LaxPower, Brindle "graduated from Salisbury School in Salisbury, Conn., where he was a First-Team All-New England selection and was named his team's defensive player of the year. He also played football and earned All-League honors and his team's defensive MVP at linebacker."
Before transferring to Salisbury School, Brindle attended Radnor High School for two years, according to the Daily News.
However, lacrosse was not his only passion-according to the Daily News article, Brindle had a great interest in music. His mother said he would even compose his own music using a computer software program.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his father, Peter, and his sister, Alexandra.
A service for Brindle will be held July 4 at 10 a.m. at the Willows, located at 490 Darby-Paoli Road in Villanova, Pa.
"Max loved fireworks. … We want it to be a celebration of his life," his mother said to the Daily News, explaining the significance of having his "life celebration" on the Fourth of July holiday.
