UEFA Euro 2008 is garnering a ton of attention across the world. Just 16 countries remain and those teams will make their way to Austria/Switzerland for the tournament June 7-28. With all the hype the UEFA Euro is receiving EA Sports was hoping to make some hype of its own, releasing UEFA Euro 2008 for the XBox 360 and Playstation 3 May 19. Unlike EA's classic soccer title FIFA, UEFA does not feature club teams, but rather only those national teams competing for UEFA Euro 2008. But what the game may lack in terms of team depth, it certainly makes up for with the new Captain Your Country game mode, as well as a few other exciting new features.

Graphics:

One of the main reasons the FIFA franchise has become so popular over the years has been the drastic evolution of the title's graphics. Now that we are in the third generation console area the graphics have only gotten more complex. The replays are very detailed and the realism of the stadiums make you feel as though you are watching the matches live, which is only enhanced by the dynamic reactions from the crowd. When you score a goal, the expression on the faces of the players have such concrete detail and when it rains you can actually tell there is mud on the field, making the game seem even more realistic by taking advantage of the real-life playing conditions.

Gameplay:

The style of the game makes you feel as if you are on the soccer field and the fast paced style only increases our overall interest. Being able to take sole possession of your player for the entire game adds a dimension of realism to UEFA '08. Also, when you score a goal, you can control your player and choose a type of celebration, giving you better control of your player's emotions. Even if you are not a soccer fan, the passing system is very smooth and even more impressive is the different types of shots you can take. A player may try to lob a shot over the goalie if close enough, but may also think about taking a shot from far away. The longer you hold the shot button, the more power your shot will have, although, it will not be as accurate. This is one of the reasons why the penalty shot is more practical as opposed to other soccer video game franchises.
