Police have identified Marvin Sutter, 42, as a suspect in the May 29 Stratton Hall robbery and have issued a warrant for his arrest, according to Domenic Ceccanecchio, senior associate vice president for Public Safety at Drexel University.

Three University staff members, including the victim, picked Sutter out of a photo lineup, Ceccanecchio said.

The identification of Sutter came after a University of Pennsylvania Police Department Detective developed a lead in the case.

With that information Philadelphia Police were able to put together a photo line up for witnesses, Ceccanecchio said.
Ceccanecchio said cooperation was key in identifying the alleged attacker.

The identification came "through a collaborative effort," said Capt. Benjamin Naish, commander of the Philadelphia Police Southwest Detective Division.

While police search for Sutter, Drexel Public Safety officers are also on alert for the alleged robber, Ceccanecchio said.

Public Safety officers are distributing Sutter's picture around campus, he said.

Court records show a Marvin Sutter with past arrests for carjacking, carrying a firearm, robbery and other crimes.

Sutter has been in and out of jail since 1988 and was most recently released in December 2006, according to court records matching his name.

He resides on the of the 300 block of East Erie Avenue according to Philadelphia Police.

Philadelphia Police said Sutter is armed and dangerous and anyone with information is urged to call the police tip line at (215) 686-8477.
