The award will be faith-based, since "one of [West-Ford's] passion areas was faith," Grace said. "We felt that [this type of award] would have really complimented who she was."

Over 40 awards will be presented at the ceremony, according to Grace. In addition to the awards, Drexel students recognized in the Who's Who of American Colleges will be honored at the banquet, Grace said.

Awards are drawn from all aspects of Student Life at Drexel, according to Smith. The upcoming banquet will have a new theme, "Spotlight on Leadership," which will focus on old Hollywood. Smith said that the event's organizers hope to have a Drexel alumnus in the entertainment industry serve as a guest speaker this year.

The banquet's increased visibility will hopefully lead to more students showing interest in the ceremony and Student Life in general, according to Smith.

"Our goal is to get more students involved," she said. "Hopefully students take notice of this and get more involved in student life next year."

March 28 is the deadline for student award nominations, and award applications are due April 18. Eligible students include those on both Drexel's University City and Center City campuses. Undergraduate and graduate students are both eligible for awards, which include scholarships, according to Grace.

The banquet is an RSVP event, and around 200 people generally are invited, according to Smith.
