This was the second blood drive run by the fraternity during the current school year, and the fifth since March 2006.
Donors at the winter term drive included members of Tau Kappa Epsilon as well as members from other fraternities on campus, other Drexel students and faculty members.
"There was a broad range of donors," Doug Boughton, a pre-junior majoring in finance and Tau Kappa Epsilon's secretary, said.
Chris Frauenberger, a junior majoring in civil engineering and vice president of Tau Kappa Epsilon, organized the most recent blood drive at the fraternity.
Frauenberger said he was pleased with how the drive went.
"The day was slower than we expected, but at night it really picked up," he said.
There were more walk-up donors than the fraternity had expected, according to Frauenberger.
Frauenberger said he believes that the fraternity's previous blood drives helped alleviate people's concerns about donating blood.
"We were a donation location for the CAA drive. I think that helps a lot," he said.
Alex Zaslow, a senior and previous president of Tau Kappa Epsilon, originally had the idea of holding a blood drive and began organizing the fraternity's first blood drive two years ago, according to Boughton.
In addition to the fraternity's past experience, Frauenberger also credited the atmosphere of the fraternity house as a reason the drive was successful, saying, "the environment we create calms people's nerves and minds."
Tau Kappa Epsilon has been honored for their work with blood donation in the past; they were recognized by the CAA at halftime of a Drexel basketball game for their part in the Drexel portion of the CAA blood drive, Boughton said.
