The DAC Pack has found new support from the department of Student Life and Administrative Services this academic year, to the tune of roughly $25,000.

The funding came as part of the special events category of the new campus initiative, "The Power of Ten."

SLAS began supporting the DAC Pack, an organization created for students by students, at the beginning of the academic year, by helping to finance all of the DAC Pack T-shirts that are given out at games and events, according to Rob Falcone, DAC Pack president.

"We went to them for help," Falcone said.

According to Rita LaRue, senior associate vice president of Drexel Business Services, the DAC Pack was "very clever."

"They went to James Tucker, senior vice president of SLAS, the dean of students, myself, and enrollment management for support," LaRue said. "They were so enthusiastic and persuasive that we were all excited," she added.

The initiative has granted the DAC Pack $10,000 for T-shirts, $10,000 for programming, which involves tickets to games at the Palestra and additional activities, along with another estimated $5,000 to fund transportation and tickets for the championships, according to LaRue.

"It's exciting to help students get involved, as students are on tight budgets," LaRue said. "It's just like any hometown sports team; you want your fans there."

Falcone added, "It looks great for Drexel externally to see students six hours away for an away game."

The SLAS has also put forth a challenge to the DAC Pack. The challenge is to fill a bus to go down to the women's basketball CAA tournament on March 14, according to LaRue.

SLAS is supporting the DAC Pack with two buses for the Richmond trip; the men's basketball CAA tournament in two weeks.
