Bill Clinton visits Penn



Former President Bill Clinton visited the University of Pennsylvania Feb. 28 to open the "Kerner Plus 40" event showcasing the legacy of President Johnson in 1968. Clinton also met with some of Sen. Hillary Clinton's most prominent supporters in a private event, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell were among the supporters that met with Clinton, according to the Inquirer.



Another Center City WaWa to close



The WaWa on 20th and Locust streets will close Feb. 28 after 17 years of service, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The closure comes as the latest in a series of Center City shut downs. In recent years, 10 WaWa stores have closed, a WaWa spokeswoman told the Inquirer. Residents in the area expressed sadness at new of the closure.

"It's convenient and cheap and a benefit for the aged and the poor," a woman told the Inquirer.



Police name suspect is snowball slaying



Philadelphia Police are looking for Jose Mendez as the prime suspect in the shooting death of a 15-year-old in Feltonville. The teen was allegedly shot after he threw a snow ball at Mendez, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Chief of Detectives Keith Sadler said Mendez's last known address was in the 3300 block of Waters Street and is likely planning to flee the city. Police have said that the teen accidentally hit Mendez with the snowball. Anyone with information is urged to call (215) 686-8477.



Comcast admits paying audience at FCC hearing



Comcast Corporation admitted Feb. 27 that they paid people to attend an FCC hearing about net neutrality, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. The topic has drawn wide interest from college students, media-reform groups, and Internet companies, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

"They were taking seats away from other citizens who had a right to be there," Catherine Bracy, administrative manager for the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at the Harvard Law School, told the Inquirer. "It was a PR thing. [Comcast] wanted more people in the room who were sympathetic." The "seat warmers" were hired to hold space for Comcast employees, a company official told The Inquirer.



Could Rendell vote for Obama?



Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, who has endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton, said he would evaluate the Pennsylvania primary numbers before making his decision, the Philadelphia Daily News reported on its blog Feb. 28. Former President Bill Clinton has said that Sen. Clinton's campaign needs victories in the Tuesday primaries in Ohio and Texas to remain viable. Rendell told The Washington Post that we believed Clinton could still have a victory in Pennsylvania.
