As great as Lost can be at times, its run has been riddled with missteps and laziness. And with Damon Lindelof's declaration that he is abandoning the Dharma Initiative storyline, as well as any other plot points he finds inconvenient, I've reached my limit.

"Everything I've forgotten about the Dharma Initiative is best left forgotten," Lindelof said to the LA Times. "The good news about time away from the show is that you remember the good stuff.

If you've forgotten about it, it's probably best not to be reminded. We're looking forward to executing the resolution of season four.

Who are all the members of Oceanic six? What happened to everybody else? What is the secret the Oceanic six are keeping and why are they keeping it? And who are these freighter folk?" In what world of storytelling is this acceptable?

Cliffhangers and mysteries exist with the agreement that the writers have an answer (be it concrete or open-ended).

That Lindelof feels his show is exempt is yet another display of contempt for the viewers.

Lost isn't nearly as good as it thinks it is. And unless Lindelof plans to go back and edit out all of the plot points he later deemed unnecessary, it'll never be more than the rough draft of a moderately good story.

IN THE NEWS

• Greg Daniels and the rest of The Office are back to work and will produce six episodes with the possibility of a seventh. The show will return to the airwaves on April 3 or April 10.

• Season One of 24 will get a special edition DVD re-release. No word yet on

whether or not the show will stink any less this time around.

• While the prospect of a good riot makes picketing an attractive endeavor, My Name is Earl creator Greg Garcia went another route, working as a cashier/janitor in an anonymous fast-food joint.

• Fans are surely crying nuts as the return of Jericho pulled even less viewers than the season one premiere, all but ensuring it won't be renewed after the six episode run finishes. Luckily, however, two endings were shot, one of which was written as a final episode.

• Season four of Weeds will be returning on June 16 with 13 episodes. The show will be paired with the new Showtime series Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
