If a Hybrid isn't really your thing, and you need a vehicle that has plenty of room and power, then you're probably looking for an SUV. Enter the Toyota RAV4.
As far as SUVs go, the RAV4 is fuel efficient and affordable - the base front-wheel drive model gets 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway and starts at $21,100. It also includes a variety of useful features such as front limited slip differential and tire-pressure monitoring.
There are a multitude of choices for the SUV buyer, so also take a look at the Nissan Rogue, Saturn Vue, Jeep Patriot and the Honda CR-V.
