The game began Jan. 19, according to Undergraduate Student Government Association President Jeff Gardosh.
The game board, which Gardosh helped develop, is an accurate map of Drexel's University City and Center City campuses.
"I put Center City campus on there on purpose, because I wanted more students to know that it exists … It kind of represents the Australia of your classic RISK game."
According to Heather Robinson, a representative from GoCrossCampus, roughly 80 students are registered to play as of Jan. 24.
"The timing was a little off," Gardosh said.
The GoCrossCampus the game, which is run by college students at Yale and Columbia, experienced server problems late in fall term and the Drexel game could not launch as planned.
Gardosh said he hopes a large number of students will join the game in the near future.
"I would love for a couple of thousand people to be on it. If you check out the other games at other schools, they had about 1,500 people playing. I think we could get much bigger numbers," Gardosh said.
Students are able to play on the "Van R & Kelly" team, the "Towers & Calhoun" team, the "Race & Myers" team, the "North Hall & Caneris" team, the "Commuters" team and the "Resimuters" team, which is for students who still live in the 19104 zip code but not in University-owned housing.
If a student is caught playing on a team that they don't belong on, their teammates can mark them a "spy," leading to an ejection from the game. Students can rejoin the next term when a new game begins.
"I haven't used it yet, but it looks pretty cool," James Weigand, a senior majoring in Business Administration and member of the "Resimuters" team, said. "I think it's another thing Drexel students can use to bond together outside the classroom. It's something we should all enjoy."
Each team will be able to take a turn every day and a new game will begin every term.
"There's some school spirit, some pride, a little competition, which is always great. I think it's a lot of fun," Gardosh said.
Students can register with their Drexel e-mail addresses by going to http://drexel.gocrosscampus.com.
