The album was released Oct. 23, 2007 by MAD Dragon Records, Drexel University's student run label. This is the third album for The Redwalls and their first with MAD Dragon. Their previous two albums were released by Capital Records.
The Redwalls' second album, "De Nova," has sold over 36,000 albums; their new album is "selling well" as it's still a fairly new record, according to Anna Drozdowski, The Redwalls' product manager. The record is being sold in stores, on tours and online. The Redwalls' tour will be in the Midwest and along the West Coast.
For the new album, The Redwalls have toured with Rooney, Polyphonic Spree, Jonathan Rice and The Whigs. They have previously toured with Ok Go, Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, Hot Hot Heat and Oasis.
The Redwalls have been featured in Spin, Rolling Stone, Time Out Chicago and other magazines. Drozdowski said that artists "don't need a major label … they get more personal attention" from labels like MAD Dragon.
MAD Dragon put the first single, "Modern Diet," on AAA Radio and College Radio to promote the album and tour.
"[Since] MAD Dragon is not a major label, cost prohibits them and makes them have a more creative promotion," Drozdowski said.
This was the band's first appearance on "The Late Show." They have previously performed on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
Tore Johansson produced the album and worked with The Redwalls in Sweden to record and produce the album. They recorded the album live to tape in 40 days. Johansson has also worked with groups like Franz Ferdinand and Ok Go.
Steven Trachtenbroit, of Big Hassle Media, is The Redwalls' publicist. He was requested by the band, since they had worked together previously, according to Drozdowski.
The Redwalls are based in Chicago. On Feb. 8, The Redwalls, along with MAD Dragon Records' Matt Duke, The Swimmers and Andrew Lipke, will perform at Drexel.
