Gang violence continues, teenager attacked
Police are warning teenagers and adults about the actively working Crips and Bloods gangs in Philadelphia, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Four teenagers have been charged for the bloody assault of Vincent James, a 13-year-old student from Pepper Middle School, the article wrote.
The attack by members of the Bloods was targeted towards James because he wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, which is a trademark of the rival Crips gang, according to the Inquirer article.
School officials have begun to warn students about the dangers of wearing gang colors.
According to the Inquirer, the local gangs in Philadelphia have become increasingly affiliated with more national gangs "to protect street-corner drug trade" in the past year. The police and city officials also noted that a lot of groups are flipping over to the Bloods, as they noticed the increase in Bloods graffiti and clothing.
Kucinich abandons White House bid
Democratic candidate Dennis Kucinich is stepping down from the 2008 Presidential race and will instead work on winning re-election as a U.S. congressman, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Kucinich only received one percent of votes in the New Hampshire primary, and no votes in the Iowa caucuses.
In the Democratic congressional primary March 4, Kucinich will face four candidates. The challengers have said that Kucinich's campaign focused too much outside of his district during the presidential race, according to the Inquirer article.
According to the article, Kucinich will not endorse another Democratic presidential candidate that is currently running in the primary.
