Renowned producer wins fifth straight U.S. gold medal

He was a Philadelphia Maccabi assistant from 1992 to 1997, Abington Friends School assistant from 1993-1998, worked at Philadelphia 76ers day and overnight camps and several other leagues and basketball camps.
The 2007 Pan Am team consisted of teenagers who applied and were recommended by their coaches.
Some were recruited by Schiff after he watched them play at the JCC Maccabi Games last summer.
During the 2007 Games, Schiff and the team visited the different areas of Buenos Aires, including Recoleta, the famous cemetery where Evita is buried, San Telmo, Palermo and many other places.
For the World Maccabiah Games in Israel, there are national tryouts, usually a year in advance. Tryouts have taken place in Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia; essentially, an East coast, West coast and Midwest tryout.
To promote the event, ads and flyers are sent to every Jewish newspaper in the country and given out at the JCC Maccabi Games, while information is also posted on websites.
Schiff said that the bonds you share and the experiences you endure when partaking in the Maccabi Games become lifelong memories.
"The athletics are of a high level and there are national and international versions for kids starting at 10 years old and going for the rest of the lives," Schiff said. "Once you take part, you make connections, friends and have experiences that truly stay with you forever."
