Police and Drexel University Public Safety are investigating reports of an alleged sexual assault Jan. 18 in a University-owned apartment across from the Towers Residence Hall, a University statement and police sources said.
Specifics of the reported crime were not available and the investigation is ongoing according to police.
The victim admitted herself to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where she was treated and released according to a statement from Drexel's Office of University Relations released shortly before 7 p.m. Jan 18.
The statement said police have told the University they have "identified a person of interest," however a police official disputed this claim and said the investigation is ongoing.
Police did say they were interviewing several individuals in connection with the incident.
Sources were unable to confirm if the victim was a student at the time of this writing.
The Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit is handling the investigation along with support from Drexel Public Safety.
