Dr. King's message of peace survives

This is an interesting rallying cry because it reminds us all that conscience has precedence over our vanity, cowardice, and expediency. This isn't a problem for a lot of us, but some people.
"What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love."
Absolutely beautiful. Power without love leads to corruption and deceit, love without power is apathetic sympathy, and when power and love are separated, the two become unequal. Power without love has the drive of those corrupted and the will for selfish gain. But love without power is just love without a voice.
"I am convinced that love is the most durable power in the world. It is not an expression of impractical idealism, but of practical realism. Far from being the pious injunction of a Utopian dreamer, love is an absolute necessity for the survival of our civilization. To return hate for hate does nothing but intensify the existence of evil in the universe."
Dr. King's assertion that love is of practical realism is an uplifting message in today's United States, where voicing out against war in favor of a peaceful resolution is seen as both idealistic and unfeasible. The same attitude is faced by those who want to see our government cleansed of the corrupt. He is right when he says love is a necessity for our survival because creating too much pent up anger and enemies is a bad idea when you're running out of room.
"The ultimate test of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and moments of convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
This one's a classic, and for good reason. Our greatest tests in life are what define us as people.
We aren't a product of the cowboys upset as much as we're a product of our failures and darkest moments.
