President Papadakis has postponed all town hall meetings until spring term due to scheduling conflicts, according to Dean of Students David Ruth.

Undergraduate Student Government Association Student Life Assembly Chair Stacey Rose said that three town hall meetings scheduled at the end of fall term for center city students, Greek life, and upperclassmen were all cancelled. Four winter term town hall meetings have been postponed until spring term, Rose said.

Ruth said he is working with USGA to reorganize the town hall meetings for spring term.

According to Rose, instead of rescheduling all seven meetings for spring term, a time that usually has a low turnout because of nice weather, they are thinking of combining meetings.

At most, Rose predicts they will have five town hall meetings, for commuters, center city students, Greek life, upperclassmen, and freshmen, respectively.

"We are in the process of reviewing ways of optimizing communications," Ruth said.

"The town hall meetings served as a decent way to begin. We want more input. Given everyone's busy schedules, students included, we are looking at other formats that will engage more students in the discussions."

Rose said that while Papadakis was visiting Nepal on business over Thanksgiving break, he was thrown off an elephant, resulting in a broken rib. She said this injury led to the town hall meeting cancellations at the end of fall term.

Ruth said he also heard that Papadakis was thrown from an elephant while in Nepal, but that his injuries did not significantly affect his job attendance.

"We know our president well enough to know that even an event like that would not keep him from coming in to work," Ruth said.

However, Niki Gianakaris, assistant director for the Drexel News Bureau, said she had not heard about an accident involving an elephant before The Triangle asked her about it.

Instead, she said she only heard that, "President Papadakis was feeling under the weather and could not attend the town hall meeting."
