Construction on a café in the Main Building will begin over winter break in order to be complete by early spring term, according to James N. Katsaounis, Executive Director of Communications and Marketing for Student Life and Administrative Services.
"Café on Main" will stand where the unused information booth is closest to the Chestnut Street entrance of the Main Building. It will be open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. according to Rita LaRue Gollotti, Senior Associate Vice President of Drexel Business Services.
The new eatery will be managed by Sodexho.
Menu highlights will include espresso drinks, brewed coffee, and iced teas; pastries, breakfast sandwiches such as Egg & Cheddar on a Whole Wheat English Muffin; Egg, Cheddar & Maple Chicken Sausage on a Whole Wheat English Muffin and gourmet sandwiches such as Grilled Chicken & Brie; Cajun Turkey & Muenster; and Eggplant & Fresh Mozzarella w/Basil pesto on Baguettes, according to LaRue Golloti.
Although the café will be take out, there will be a few tables added to the entrance way of Main that students can use to enjoy their food and drink.
According to Katsaounis, the University received zoning approval just before Thanksgiving break for the project that will cost an estimated $150,000.
