No. 23 Virginia ends Drexel's undefeated streak

Both teams struggled early, with the Dragons jumping out to an early 4-0 lead, thanks to a pair of baskets by Elegar.
Drexel's first score didn't come until the 16:36 mark, while Virginia's first hoop didn't occur until 13:37, almost six and a half minutes into the contest.
The Dragons led 21-20 with 3:32 to go, however, the Cavaliers went on an 11-4 run, capped by a jumper by Joseph to lead by six at the half.
Virginia did not take its first lead until a layup by Singletary gave them a 17-16 advantage at 4:24.
The Dragons had their opportunities to cushion an early lead; however, they missed several open shots.
Hawthorne, who came into the contest as Drexel's leading scorer (19.7 ppg) and second leading three-point shooter (42.9 percent), managed just 10 points on four-of-12 from the field, and two-of-eight from three-point range.
"He was open especially in the first half [just] didn't knock [shots] down," Flint said.
No other Dragons player reached double figures.
Randy Oveneke led the Dragons with seven rebounds and tallied seven points.
The first half saw five lead changes and two ties.
Drexel shot a less than stellar 10-15 from the free throw stripe (66.7 percent) while Virginia shot an efficient 18-22 (81.8 percent).
In spite of their free throw shooting woes, the Dragons did hold the Cavaliers to 23-60 from the field (38.3 percent).
Virginia did manage to hit 8-16 from three point range.
The Dragons shot 21-50 (42 percent). They were 6-18 from behind the arc.
The Cavaliers out rebounded Drexel 41-23.
